Is Gate Ready a compliance service?
No. Gate Ready is a drafting tool that helps you prepare a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) and collect worker sign-on. It doesn't certify, guarantee or verify that a SWMS meets any law, regulator requirement or site requirement. Suggested hazards, controls and PPE are a starting point only, and you're responsible for reviewing and finishing every SWMS.
Does Gate Ready store my signed SWMS?
No. Gate Ready doesn't keep signed copies for you. Once you confirm you've saved or sent the exported PDF, the app clears the signatures from your phone, so your exported copy is the record. Keep it. Job details and drafts stay on your phone so you can revise or reuse them.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no account to create, and Gate Ready has no cloud storage of your SWMS.
Does Gate Ready work offline?
Yes. You can draft, sign and export without a signal. Sending a SWMS on by text or email still needs a connection, like any message.
Does the app connect to the internet?
Only for a few things. When you open it, the app asks the App Store or Google Play whether an update is available, and it checks your subscription with the store. If there's no signal it carries on. Sending or sharing a SWMS uses your phone's share sheet and goes where you send it. There are no analytics or advertising tools in the app.
Do I have to install updates?
Some updates are required. When an update changes the rules, the app asks you to install it before you continue, and your drafts and jobs stay on your phone. Smaller updates are optional. You can check any time in Settings under About Gate Ready and updates.
Which states and territories does it cover?
All Australian states and territories. The rules are built around each one's regulator, legislation, fall-height thresholds and high-risk categories, including Victoria's separate OHS regime. You still need to check the result against your job, your site and your regulator.
How does Gate Ready decide what applies?
Fixed rules decide, and AI doesn't. Gate Ready picks out likely high-risk work from your job description (for example work at height, asbestos or trenching), asks a few follow-up questions, then suggests hazards, controls and PPE. You can change any of it.
How do workers sign?
Workers can sign on your phone, on a printable wet-signature sheet, or both.
What does it cost?
Your first SWMS is free. Then there's a one-month free trial, and after that Gate Ready is $24.99 per month, including GST. It's billed by the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel any time in your store account.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
A lapsed subscription only stops you starting new SWMS. Your existing SWMS still open, sign and export.
Can I move Gate Ready to a new phone?
Yes. On your old phone go to Settings and choose Export my work, then choose Import from a file on the new phone. The file holds drafts, job details and settings only. Signed SWMS and signatures you haven't exported yet are never included, so export your PDFs first. Exporting a transfer file is available once you start your free trial or subscribe, and importing is always available. Phone backups don't move between iPhone and Android.
Is my data backed up?
Gate Ready doesn't back anything up itself. If you have your phone's own backup switched on (iCloud on iPhone, Auto Backup on Android), it may include Gate Ready's working data. That backup belongs to Apple or Google, not to us. Signed SWMS aren't kept in the app, so keep your exported PDFs.
Will it remind me when licences and insurance expire?
Yes. It sets reminders on your phone for expiring licences, tickets and insurance, unexported signatures and unfinished drafts. You can change the timing. For insurance, the app keeps certificate of currency numbers and expiry dates only, not the files.
